Atkins has created an innovative, web-based tool to measure energy consumption and other facilities management activities. Atkins Remote Technology (ArT) collects data through wireless technology and enables sites to be monitored and managed centrally via a password-controlled web portal. It gives authorised users, anywhere, access to the same interface – from PC, laptop or hand-held device.

ArT can also monitor footfall, lift movements, security entrance pads and air filter pressure. The modular nature of the technology means costs are kept to a minimum and clients can specify the level of functionality needed from the system. On average, clients have seen a return on their investment within two years. We helped a major banking client save 12,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide – or £500,000 – in one year.
