Atkins is playing a key role on the Shatin to Central Link of Hong Kong’s Mass Transit Railway (MTR), which forms part of the link between Hong Kong Island and Mainland China.

We’ve been appointed lead consultant for the preliminary design studies on the North-South Corridor and sub-consultant on preliminary design of the East-West Corridor. We are also responsible for detailed design of the tunnels associated with Hung Hom Station.

A key challenge for the station has been developing an efficient interchange with existing and planned lines and the need to working in and around an operating railway.

Atkins is also delivering multidisciplinary services for several other sections of the new MTR lines, including stations, tunnels and viaducts.
