Atkins was selected to develop and deliver Ship Safety Management Training (SSMT) for the UK Ministry of Defence, its employees (service and civilian) and industry on behalf of the Ship Safety Management Organisation (SSMO).

Our specialists designed a course to cover safety management processes and techniques, safety cases in accordance with the requirements of JSP 815, JSP430 and Defence Standard 00-56 and the Acquisition Safety and Environmental Management System (ASEMS), POSMS and POEMS.

Atkins delivers successful courses, which has led to us being engaged to deliver SSMT courses internationally, further demonstrating our capability as a safety training provider. The SSMT course is designed by training and safety practitioners and delivered by tutors who are safety engineers working on current maritime projects. This ensures their currency of skills and their ability to share best practice in relation to working in the maritime safety domain.
